Cyclone Tauktae live updates: Weakened cyclone moves north, Delhi-NCR braces for rain

The landfall process of the eye of extremely severe cyclonic storm Tauktae, which hit the Gujarat coast in Saurashtra region between Diu and Una, ended around midnight, the India Meteorological Department said on Tuesday. State officials said there are no reports of any casualty due to the tropical storm 'Tauktae' (pronounced as Tau'Te), adding it has weakened. The IMD also announced that the cyclone has weakened into a 'very severe cyclonic storm' from the 'extremely severe cyclonic storm'. Stay with TOI for latest updates.

As per the latest forecast by IMD, the cyclone would cross Gujarat coast between 10pm and 11pm between Porbandar and Mahuva, Bhavnagar. The cyclone has picked up speed at 15kmph as it lays at 180km southeast of Diu at 11.30am.

Fishing boats damaged due to strong winds
Two fishing boats anchored off Madh collided and suffered severe damage as their anchors snapped owing to the strong cyclonic winds. Incident occurred between 12.30am to 2.30am on May 17. The boats identified as Mangala Gauri and Sonyachi Jejuri are owned by Dhangar Koli and Rahul Koli respectively.
