Tirunelveli: The Palayamkottai police have arrested a 30-year-old former techie on Monday for allegedly uploading an abusive video targeting
Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay on social media.
The accused, identified as James Raja, a resident of the Munnirpallam area, allegedly used derogatory language against the CM Vijay while referencing a child rape and murder case that recently occurred in Coimbatore.
Acting swiftly on the complaints, the Palayamkottai police registered a case against James. The charges filed against him include intentionally insulting and provoking a breach of peace, propagating false information, criminal intimidation, and promoting hatred or ill-will between different groups on grounds of religion, race, or language.
Following an initial inquiry, James was placed under arrest on Monday, produced before a local court, and subsequently remanded in judicial custody.
Investigation revealed that James is a qualified computer engineering graduate who has previously worked with several tech firms.
