Madurai: Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Ramanathapuram districts received significant rainfall on Sunday.
Tirunelveli district reported a total rainfall of 73.9cm on Sunday. Oothu received the highest rainfall of 17cm, followed by Nalumukku at 16.4cm and Kakkachi 14.8cm.
Ramanathapuram district recorded a total of 28.34cm. Thangachimadam recorded the highest rainfall of 7.9cm, followed by Rameswaram 7.5cm and Pamban 7cm.
Tenkasi district recorded a total rainfall of 5.25cm on Sunday. The Gundar dam received the highest rainfall at 1.7cm followed by Sivagiri 1.3cm. Tenkasi recorded 0.3cm.
Meanwhile, Sivaganga district collector K Porkodi has requested the public to follow precautionary measures as heavy rain was forecast in Sivaganga district from Sunday onwards. People were asked to refrain from entering rivers and ponds. Relief camps have been set up and medical units have been kept on standby for emergency care.
