Programmes help students, women

Madurai: Virudhunagar district administration's Thisai programme has helped 78 students return to school and 14 students to continue technical education since its launch on Jan 10, a press release from the district administration said. The scheme has helped 11 students qualify for the JEE exam and prepare for other competitive exams such as NEET, it said.Similarly, the Uyir programme helped in rehabilitating economically disadvantaged women, differently abled children and juveniles in conflict with the law. Under the programme, cooking equipment and other tools were provided. Sewing and cooking training were also provided for beneficiaries, it said. The programmes were implemented using the corporate social responsibility fund and the district mineral fund.
