Kanyakumari: While Vijay's TVK gained inroads across Tamil Nadu, it couldn't win any seats in Kanyakumari district. Out of the six assembly constituencies in the district, DMK and its allies won in five, while AIADMK won in one. However, TVK candidates secured second place in Vilavancode, Killiyoor, Padmanabhapuram, Nagercoil and Colachel. In Kanyakumari constituency, TVK was pushed to the third place.
In Nagercoil, DMK candidate Austin secured 69,880 votes and won by a margin of 7,570 votes. He defeated TVK candidate G Bervin Kings, who secured 62,310 votes, while incumbent BJP MLA M R Gandhi came third with 52,355 votes.
In Vilavancode, Congress candidate T T Praveen polled 70,755 votes and won by a margin of 20,970 votes.
He defeated TVK's K Michael Kumar who secured 49,785 votes, pushing BJP's S Vijayadharani to the third place with 45,604 votes.
In Killiyoor, incumbent Congress MLA S Rajesh Kumar secured 66,434 votes and won by a margin of 1,311 votes. He defeated TVK's S Sabin who secured 65,123 votes while pushing BJP's J Nivin Simon to the third place with 31,070 votes.
In Colachel, Congress candidate Tharahai Cuthbert secured 66,207 votes and won by a margin of 2,833 votes.
Se defeated TVK's Prem Alex Lawrence who secured 63,374 votes, while BJP's T Sivakumar secured the third place with 54,384 votes.
In Padmanabhapuram, CPM candidate M Chellaswamy secured 68,938 votes and won by a margin of 15,569 votes. He defeated TVK's S Krishnakumar who secured 53,369 votes, pushing BJP candidate P Ramesh to the third place with 44,293 votes.
In Kanyakumari, incumbent MLA Thalavai Sundaram of the AIADMK secured 75,045 votes and won by a slim margin of 214 votes. He defeated DMK's R Mahesh who secured 74,831 votes. TVK candidate S R Madhavan secured third place with 72,977 votes.
