One killed, another critical as SUV hits divider on Purvanchal Expressway

Lucknow: A man was killed and another critically injured after an SUV carrying a family from Surat in Gujarat to Bihar crashed into a divider in the Gosainganj police station area in Lucknow on Sunday, police said.According to officials, the accident occurred near kilometre marker 16.8 when the SUV reportedly went out of control and rammed into the central divider with great force.Police identified the deceased as Surendra Chaudhary, a native of Badaria village in the Madhavpur area of Bihar's Siwan district, who was currently residing in Surat. Another occupant, Dheeraj Chaudhary, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the KGMU Trauma Centre for treatment. Doctors said his condition remained critical. Other family members travelling in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.Police said the family was travelling from Surat to their ancestral village in Bihar when the accident took place.After receiving information, police and emergency response teams rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations. The injured were pulled out of the damaged SUV and shifted to hospital for treatment.Officials said preliminary investigation suggests the driver may have lost control of the vehicle, though the exact cause of the accident is being examined.
