Lucknow: Senior officers have described the Special Operations Group (SOG) team of Jalaun—whose members were killed in the Haryana road accident—as “indispensable” to anti-crime operations, recalling their strong track record against hardened and inter-state criminals.
City CO
Rajeev Sharma said the team had earned a reputation for swift response and scientific investigation. “They were firm and relentless in dealing with criminals. The Jalaun SOG had become a crucial unit in tackling organised crime,” he said. Sharma noted that in April 2026, the team busted an inter-state gang following an encounter. Three accused from Madhya Pradesh were arrested. The gang was involved in thefts in UP, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Bihar. Another officer said the SOG team had carried out many major operations in recent months, leading to the arrest of around a dozen criminals. The unit was also actively involved in cracking down on illegal arms trafficking networks.
“Their contribution to crime control was significant. They were among the most dependable teams on the ground,” SP, Jalaun,
Vinay Kumar Singh said, adding that their legacy would continue to guide future operations against organised crime.
