Bengal a big lesson for parties who ignore public: Yogi
Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that the result of the West Bengal Assembly elections was a “big lesson” for political parties that ignored the public, looted development funds, sheltered goons and insulted Sanatan.
“They are bound to be wiped out. The people of West Bengal have shown this,” Yogi said while addressing a gathering in Gorakhpur after inaugurating the newly constructed Kalyan Mandapam (convention centre) in Jungle Beni Madhav and launching 71 development projects worth ₹612.32 crore related to Gorakhpur’s development.
He said under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi, West Bengal will now become ‘Sonar Bangla’. Yogi added that only a good govt brings good results. “Without a good govt, the result is like the one in West Bengal,” he said.
Referring to the development and welfare works carried out in UP and Gorakhpur since 2017, he said that when intentions are clear, policies are transparent and there is strong determination, meaningful results are achieved. “Today, these results are visible in Gorakhpur and across Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
Yogi said that the closed fertiliser plant of Gorakhpur had become a symbol of corruption of Congress and SP govts. “Today, this fertiliser plant is functioning well. An overbridge has been built from Nakaha to the fertiliser factory and sports college,” he noted.
A four-lane road has been constructed from Bargadwa via Nakaha to Mohaddipur. With the main road in Maheshwar becoming four-lane, traffic jams have reduced. He said four-lane connectivity from Mahesra to Lucknow via Madhopur and Habert Bandha up to Rajghat will be available.
The chief minister said that the travel time from Gorakhpur to Lucknow has been reduced from around nine hours to three to 3.5 hours. Likewise, the travel time to Varanasi has also reduced to about 2.5 hours. “With the four-lane bypass being built from Jungle Kaudia to Jagdishpur, it will take only half an hour to reach Kushinagar via Mahesra,” he said.
He said Gorakhpur was known for mosquitoes and mafia. “Now Gorakhpur is known for safety, cleanliness, prosperity and strong roads. The youth here are no longer dependent on identity. They proudly say they are from Gorakhpur,” he said.
Targeting previous govts, he stated that those whose functioning was corrupt, who nurtured mafia and spread disorder, put the state’s identity under doubt.
