Lucknow: Eminent social activist and senior women’s rights leader Asha Mishra was remembered at a condolence meeting titled ‘Sumiran Asha’. Mishra, known for her lifelong commitment to social justice and women’s empowerment, passed away on May 8 at the age of 78.
The tribute programme was organised at Gautam Buddha Shanti Upvan Park-2 in Aashiana near Sky Hilton crossing, drawing a large gathering from political, administrative, social and media circles. Attendees paid homage to the veteran activist and recalled her enduring contribution to public life.
Among those present were deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, BJP leader Dharampal Singh, Congress leader Aaradhana Mishra, former MLC Deepak Singh, DGP Rajeev Krishna, ADG Lucknow Praveen Kumar, Sarojininagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh, BJP MLA Neeraj Bora and Mallawan MLA Ashish Singh.
Speakers highlighted Mishra’s decades-long work for women’s rights and her efforts to raise the concerns of weaker and marginalised sections. She was remembered as a fearless voice for justice, dignity and grassroots activism. Senior editors and journalists also attended the meeting.
