Lucknow: Three friends were killed after a speeding truck rammed their bike on the Tanda-Banda national highway in Amethi’s Munshiganj on early Friday. The truck driver fled after the accident.
The deceased were identified as
Karan, 20, of Amethi, and Ankit, 20, and
Arjun, 22, of Sultanpur district.
The three youths were returning on a bike from a wedding function when a speeding truck hit their bike near a road cut close to Shivganj village.
Karan and Ankit died on the spot while Arjun, who sustained critical injuries, was rushed to the Sultanpur district hospital where he died during treatment.
Villagers said the truck was moving at a very high speed at the time of the accident. After hitting the motorcycle, the driver allegedly fled towards Rae Bareli without stopping to help the victims.
Police sent the bodies for postmortem. Police are scanning CCTV footage installed near the highway to identify the truck.
Station House Officer Shivakant Tripathi said that an investigation is underway.
