Vijayawada: Vijayawada: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is set to use its upcoming Mahanadu conclave to reinforce its dual message of cadre empowerment and governance-driven development. HRD and IT minister Nara Lokesh will be the cynosure of all eyes at the two-day conclave, as it will be the first major event after he assumed charge as the party’s national president.
Lokesh’s slogan, “Party activist is the party supremo,” is set to be adopted as a key resolution at Mahanadu, to be held in a virtual format from the party’s central office between May 27 and 28.
The resolutions committee, headed by former minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, held extensive two-day deliberations and finalised draft resolutions covering welfare, the economy, agriculture, investments, organisational strengthening and social empowerment.
Senior leader and committee member Neelayapalem Vijaykumar said the resolutions were prepared with a clear focus on both public welfare and boosting the morale of party workers. “The leadership strongly believes that activists are the backbone of TDP. Every resolution reflects a commitment to protecting the interests and self-respect of grassroots cadre while ensuring development reaches all sections,” Vijaykumar told TOI.
One of the key resolutions is expected to highlight the significant investments attracted by
Andhra Pradesh over the past two years under the TDP-led NDA government. The party plans to showcase investment proposals across sectors such as information technology, renewable energy, manufacturing, ports, and industrial corridors. Leaders believe this push has helped restore investor confidence after years of economic uncertainty.
The conclave is also likely to adopt a resolution detailing the government’s efforts to stabilise state finances despite global economic pressures and the impact of the ongoing West Asia crisis on fuel prices and revenues. The leadership intends to highlight fiscal discipline, resource mobilisation and continued welfare delivery despite financial constraints inherited from the previous regime.
Similarly, the party will focus on resolutions related to women’s reservation, implementation of the Sthree Shakti scheme, the ongoing land resurvey programme, and the issuance of pattadar passbooks carrying the official government emblem. The party is expected to emphasise the central role of women in its foundation and growth since inception. Apart from Andhra Pradesh-specific issues, special resolutions proposed by TDP units from Telangana and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will also be tabled during the sessions.
The political resolution, traditionally the centrepiece of Mahanadu, will be finalised after consultations with TDP national president Chandrababu Naidu and national working president Nara Lokesh. Party insiders said it would strongly defend the NDA government’s governance model while criticising the opposition over alleged economic mismanagement and “destructive politics.” “The overall message of Mahanadu this year is clear — strong cadre, stable governance, and accelerated development,” Vijaykumar added.
