Kolkata: Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday made his maiden visit to Lalbazar, the headquarters of Kolkata Police, since assuming office. Adhikari, who also holds the crucial home portfolio, chaired a high-level review meeting with top brass, including police commissioner Ajay Nand, to assess city security and expedite pending police modernisation projects.
The visit comes ahead of Eid-ul-Zuha. An officer said, Adhikari directed cops to maintain "maximum vigil" and execute robust deployment strategies in sensitive pockets to ensure peaceful celebrations and preserve communal harmony. tnn
