Kolkata: Tulika Das resigned from her post as chairperson of West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights on Friday after nearly two-and-half years in office. The resignation was submitted on Thursday. Her tenure was scheduled to end in Dec.
"I submitted my resignation to the department of women and child development and social welfare on Thursday. I have enjoyed my work with a good team. I have been sincere towards my duties and responsibilities. I worked for 35 years in the child rights sector before becoming chairperson. I will continue my work," she said
Das's decision comes within a few days of actor-politician Agnimitra Paul being appointed minister for women and child development. tnn
