Kochi: Half a century after they walked out of St Teresa's Convent Girls High School as young graduates, the class of 1976 came together once again, this time with silver strands, treasured memories and friendships that have stood the test of time.
Former classmates from different parts of the world reunited for their ‘golden get together' at a function held at a hotel on MG Road on Tuesday. The reunion was an emotional celebration of lifelong bonds and shared experiences.
"It was a memorable experience; we could meet old friends after long years. Many underwent significant transformation and were difficult to recognise, however we kept the pictures of the members of alumni from their younger days, which made it easier," said Sita Venkatraman, who came from Bengaluru for the event.
A special highlight of the gathering was the felicitation of nine former teachers who played a defining role in shaping the lives of the students. Honoured at the event were Beatrice James, Jane Paul, Rosely Jose, Shirley Luiz, Gracy Pathrose, Geetha V K, Kamala Devi K K, Francesca Antony and Ammini Joseph.
In a gesture of gratitude towards their alma mater, the batch donated 11 laptops to the school to support digital learning initiatives.
