Parents file complaint over 3-year-old boy’s death at Palakkad district hospital
Palakkad: Parents of a three-year-old boy who died following fever-related complications have raised allegations of medical negligence against authorities at Palakkad district hospital and demanded an inquiry into the incident. The deceased was identified as Daivik, son of Riju and Shalini of Thenkurussi. According to the family, the child was taken to the district hospital at 8.30pm on Sunday with a high fever. The parents alleged that the child had a temperature of 103℃ during examination and was administered paracetamol syrup, after which the fever reportedly came down. Doctors later advised them to give milk and bun to the child and sent the child home without admitting him, they alleged. According to relatives, the child vomited shortly after reaching home and his condition worsened during the night. He was rushed back to the district hospital around 3.30am, but doctors declared him dead. The family has demanded an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child's death. They also alleged that the body had to be shifted to Alathur taluk hospital as freezer facilities were unavailable at the district hospital. The parents said they would submit complaints to the district medical officer, district collector and Kuzhalmannam police seeking a detailed inquiry into the incident.
