Alwar: A woman died at Shriom Hospital on Ghanta Ghar Road in Dholpur town after delivery, triggering protests by family members who accused doctors of gross negligence. Following the incident, Dholpur district collector Shrinidhi BT and officials from the medical dept reached the hospital and launched an inquiry.
During the investigation, officials found that the main doctor treating patients at the hospital, Anurag Singh, was allegedly blacklisted in Uttar Pradesh and operating the hospital without a licence. Officials also found that the woman underwent a caesarean operation despite having critically low haemoglobin levels of 4.6. She later died, leaving behind a newborn child.
Chief medical and health officer (CMHO) Dr Dharamsingh Meena termed the case a serious instance of negligence and ordered Shriom Hospital to be sealed. Officials said Bharat Hospital was also seized on the basis of an earlier investigation.
Officials said Anurag Singh had earlier served a six-month sentence after being caught in a PCPNDT Act case in Uttar Pradesh and was allegedly running an illegal hospital in Dholpur.
The deceased, identified as Anguri (36), wife of Omprakash and a resident of Bijauli, was admitted to Shriom Hospital on May 13 for delivery. Doctors performed a caesarean section Friday night and she delivered a healthy baby.
However, her condition deteriorated the next day and she died Saturday morning.
As protests by the family intensified, Kotwali police reached the spot, pacified the relatives and shifted the body to the mortuary.
District collector Shrinidhi BT visited the hospital and interacted with other admitted patients. CMHO Dr Dharamsingh Meena, who conducted the inquiry, said the deceased had extremely low haemoglobin and was administered a blood transfusion improperly, indicating negligence. He added that the hospital was unregistered and that an FIR had already been lodged against it at Nihalganj police station in an earlier case.
Family members alleged that Anguri's condition kept worsening after delivery, but the hospital administration failed to provide timely treatment.
The collector sought an explanation from the hospital management. Three other women admitted to the hospital after delivery were shifted to the district hospital.
After post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family. Kotwali police are investigating the case.
