Times News Network
Ujjain: An 18-year-old youth was killed and six were injured after a vehicle carrying a group of friends on their way to Sanwariya Seth temple plunged into a gorge near Badnawar bypass on Indore-Ujjain route early Sunday morning.
Two of the injured were later referred to Indore after their condition turned critical.
Police said that seven friends from Lasudia area of Indore had left for Sanwariya Seth during the night and were travelling through the bypass when the vehicle went out of control on a bridge and fell into a gorge below.
After receiving information, a Dial 112 team from Nanakheda police station reached the spot and shifted all injured to hospital. Doctors declared Vishal Parihar, a resident of Lasudia, dead.
The injured were identified as Piyush, Nilesh, Chandan, Ayush, Milan and Om. Police said Piyush and Nilesh sustained serious injuries and were referred to Indore, while others were undergoing treatment at Charak Hospital in Ujjain.
Head constable Dharmendra Suryavanshi said that the deceased’s postmortem examination was conducted.
According to injured persons, the group had planned a visit to Sanwariya Seth temple a few days ago and assembled around 1.30 am before starting the journey. Police said Nilesh was driving the vehicle. Preliminary information suggests the driver lost control while trying to avoid a dead cow lying on the bypass road, causing the vehicle to veer off and plunge into the gorge.
