Indore: Two youths sleeping at a farm in Shajapur district were shot at and beaten up by three men, including a village sarpanch, in an attack linked to an old rivalry, late Friday night.
The incident took place in Indore Barodiya village under Sundarsi police station limits. The injured,
Ravi Singh, 25, and Lalsingh, 27, said that the men reached the farm around 3 am and first opened fire at their legs before assaulting them with sticks.
After the attack, the victims informed their family members over phone, following which they were taken to Shajapur district hospital for treatment.
The injured accused village sarpanch Dharam Singh, Rajesh Singh and Bheru Singh of carrying out the attack. Ravi’s uncle Ram Singh alleged that the assault was linked to political rivalry in the village after local elections.
Sundarsi police station in-charge Manisha Sharma said that police reached the spot after receiving information and statements of the injured were being recorded.
