Koppal: Elaborate arrangements are in place for the Sri Huligemma Devi Jatra Mahotsav, scheduled to be held from May 11 to 14, Koppal MP K Rajashekar Basavaraj Hitnal said on Sunday. Addressing media at the office of the Sri Huligemma Devi Kshetra Development Authority, Hitnal said the festival is being organised on a grand scale this year. Describing it as one of the region's most prominent religious events, he said nearly 35 lakh devotees are expected to visit the shrine during the 15-day festivities, with around 3 lakh turnout anticipated on the Maharathotsava day. He said all basic infrastructure and essential facilities have been readied for the influx of devotees. Muzrai minister Ramalinga Reddy will inaugurate the event as per government protocol. Special focus is on the Mahadasoha programme, under which free meals will be served daily to thousands of devotees. Authorities have also ensured illumination of the temple premises, road repairs, parking facilities and tightened security with police deployment, CCTV surveillance and a control room. Urging devotees to participate in large numbers, the MP appealed for cooperation to ensure peaceful celebrations.
