Nagaland opens rental housing complex for poor
Dimapur: In a move to provide affordable homes with proper sanitation and basic essential services, the Nagaland govt on Saturday opened a rental housing complex for the urban poor at Chumoukedima.Nagaland adviser to the urban development and municipal affairs department Zhaleo Rio, who inaugurated the complex, said the project was undertaken to provide affordable, dignified accommodation, along with essential services, for the economically weaker sections, migrant workers and low-income groups.Zhaleo said the complex comprises of 384 units of 1BHK apartments, with the initial rent being fixed at Rs 1,000 for three years.He further said any revision of the rent will be undertaken by the Chumoukedima Town Council (CTC), with approval from the state govt.Zhaleo also flagged off sanitation vehicles for the district and emphasised the need for proper waste management and sanitation practices.
