Girl’s body found in Dhubri mustard field, suspect held

Dhubri: A man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly killing a teenage college girl with whom he was reportedly in love. Police recovered the girl’s body in the morning and sent it for postmortem.The accused has been identified as Lalchand Ali of Dhubri district.Family members alleged the girl was first raped and then strangulated to death, and that the accused dumped her body in a mustard field on Friday night.A police source said the girl was allegedly abducted by Ali on Friday evening.When contacted by TOI, Dhubri additional superintendent of police(HQ), Debajyoti Talukdar said a murder case has been registered against Ali, but whether it was rape prior to murder, could only be ascertained after the post-mortem report.The victim’s family demanded strict punishment against the accused.
