Edu dept to call up parents to ensure timely RTE admissions in pvt schools

Gurgaon: To ensure timely admissions under the RTE quota in private schools, officials of the education department have been tasked with personally calling parents and informing them about necessary action and due procedure. Gurgaon deputy commissioner Uttam Singh on Thursday directed the department to ensure transparent and smooth admissions under the RTE Act, which mandates 25% reserved seats for EWS children in private schools.The directions come amid concerns raised by parents about delays and instances of refusal to admit students under the RTE provisions.With the deadline for the completion of the admission set for May 9, the deputy commissioner instructed officials to guide parents of all eligible children through the process and clearly communicate the list of required documents. “To streamline coordination, one departmental employee will be deployed in every private school to assist parents and liaise with school managements. This staff member will help with document checks, facilitate communication and ensure the admission process moves forward without hurdles,” Singh said.To avoid any future disputes, the schools must also issue document verification receipts to the parents, he said.He added that admissions for the 2026-27 academic session must be completed sincerely, transparently and within the prescribed timeline so that no eligible child is left waiting due to avoidable delays.“Parents must not face last-minute confusion,” he said.Singh also warned that schools refusing RTE admissions without valid reasons will face strict action under relevant rules.
