NEW DELHI: At least seven people have been rescued after a fire broke out at a residential building in Delhi’s New Friends Colony on Sunday afternoon.On fire incident at New Friends colony area, station officer Rajkumar from the Mathura Road Fire Station says, "We received a distress call regarding a fire at approximately 3:40pm and arrived on the scene within five minutes. Upon arrival, we were informed that several children were trapped inside. Our team immediately deployed ladders, initiated rescue operations, and began suppressing the flames. "According to officials, a call reporting the fire was received around 3:40 pm, following which two five tenders were immediately rushed to the spot to carry out firefighting and rescue efforts."We successfully rescued seven people in total, including an 8-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy, two other children, two women, and one man. Unfortunately, because we lacked initial information regarding pets in the building, two puppies could not be saved. The fire, which originated on the upper ground floor due to an apparent short circuit, was brought under control using five fire tenders. We are relieved to report that there are no human casualties, " he added.Firefighters safely evacuated the members of the family residing in the house.
