BJP Lok Sabha MP Nishikant Dubey has criticised the Congress party over India’s economic history and its link with the US dollar. Speaking in Patna, Bihar, Dubey accused Congress leaders of repeatedly raising concerns about the rupee and the country’s economy. He referred to the Bretton Woods Agreement, claiming India’s leadership signed it after Independence and arguing that it shaped India’s dependence on the dollar. He also said changes in the global monetary system, including the end of gold backing for the dollar in 1962, affected economies worldwide. Dubey further alleged that policies during Indira Gandhi’s tenure, including the 1966 rupee devaluation, deepened this dependence. He said India entered agreements with the US due to economic needs and called for answers from Congress.
