Ahead of the INDIA bloc meeting on Monday, CPI(M) general secretary MA Baby wrote a sharply worded letter to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, raising allegations made by Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders during the Kerala elections. According to sources, Baby referred to claims that CPI(M) and BJP had struck a deal and also cited calls for ED action against then Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The letter alleged that Congress leadership ran a “systematic campaign” during the polls and questioned repeated remarks by Congress leaders on alleged probe actions. Baby said that unless these issues were clarified, the purpose of the INDIA bloc could be questioned. He also reaffirmed CPI(M)’s commitment to cooperating in Parliament while backing a united opposition stand against the Modi government.
