Delhi MCD Election Results 2022 Updates: Nearly 55% women among AAP winners

Delhi MCD Election Results 2022 Live Updates: Of the 134 AAP candidates who managed to win MCD elections, at least 71 are women. That means nearly 55% of the victorious AAP candidates are women, according to the state election commission data. The MCD poll results for all 250 wards were declared on Wednesday. While AAP gained majority by winning 134 seats, BJP and Congress won 104 and nine seats, respectively. AAP had fielded 138 women candidates whereas BJP and Congress nominated 136 and 129, respectively. In BJP, of the 136 women candidates, 52 managed to win. Shagufta Chaudhary, a woman candidate from Congress, managed to win with a huge margin of 15,193 votes. The Delhi MCD results are out now. Early trends suggested BJP's gains
The counting of votes began at 8am at 42 centres across Delhi amid tight security, and initial trends were in favour of the BJP. At one point, the BJP was leading in 107 seats and the Aam Aadmi Party in 95. But as the counting progressed, the AAP went past the BJP and slowly consolidated the lead, finally winning 134 wards.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday wrested control of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), winning 134 seats in the 250-seat civic body. According to the State Election Commission (SEC), the AAP won 134 seats, BJP bagged 104, Congress got nine and the Independents secured victory in three wards. The BJP, which exit polls predicted would suffer a massive defeat, put up a spirited fight.

Counting of votes concludes
Counting of votes has concluded for Delhi Municipal Corporation results. The Aam Aadmi Party has emerged as clear winner after winning in 134 wards. The BJP too put up a spirited fight and won in 104 wards. The Congress managed to win in just nine seats while the remaining three wards elected independent candidates.
