New Delhi: A court on Friday issued notice to jail authorities on a plea filed by CM attack case accused Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai Sakariya and Tehsin Raza Sheikh, alleging that they were assaulted and threatened by fellow inmates in jail.
The Tis Hazari court sought a response from the jail superintendent by May 22. The court of additional sessions judge
Nishant Garg directed the authorities to ensure the safety and security of both accused.
The accused have sought transfer to a separate barrack and directions to ensure their protection inside jail. Their counsel alleged that they were being harassed and subjected to repeated threats by other inmates.
According to the application, the accused were allegedly told that they would be killed inside the jail and would continue to be beaten till they “learn a lesson”. It was further alleged that threats had also been extended to their family members. The plea stated that the threats were “specific, repeated and life threatening in nature”, creating a serious apprehension of bodily harm.
The case relates to the attack on chief minister Rekha Gupta during a Jan Sunwai at her camp office in Civil Lines on Aug 20, 2025. Khimjibhai, a 41-year-old resident of Gujarat’s Rajkot, was arrested, while Sheikh was nabbed for allegedly conspiring with him. Last Dec, the court had ordered framing of charges against them.
