Krishnagiri: Two youths were arrested for selling ganja near Shoolagiri in Krishnagiri district, in the early hours of Monday.
The arrested have been identified as K Murugesh, 25, and S Mathesh, 24, of Kottangarai village. Both were working as painters at a well-known private heavy motor vehicle factory near Hosur.
They were apprehended when police intensified surveillance in Pattaguruparapally, following a tip-off that cannabis was being sold in the area.
During the operation, police found the two standing suspiciously with two-wheelers near a private quarry. Police surrounded them and a search of their bags, revealed ganja hidden inside it. Police seized about 10kg of ganja and two two-wheelers which were used for smuggling.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the two were involved in selling cannabis after working hours with the aim of earning more money.
Shoolagiri police registered a case and the two were produced before the Hosur sub-court and lodged at the Salem central prison under judicial custody.
