Salem: TVK dealt a major blow to the DMK in Salem region in the 2026 assembly elections by defeating three sitting ministers.
In Salem North, tourism minister R Rajendran lost to TVK's K Sivakumar. Rajendran secured 71,676 votes while Sivakumar polled 85,710 votes and won with a margin of 14,034.
In Rasipuram, adi dravidar welfare minister Dr M Mathivendan was defeated by TVK's D Logesh Dhanapal. Mathivendan received 57,854 votes while Logesh Dhanapal polled 74,808, winning by 16,954 votes. BJP's Premkumar S D came second with 60,297 votes, pushing the minister to third place.
In Erode West, housing and urban development minister S Muthusamy lost to TVK's K K Ananth Moghan. Muthusamy got 74,586 votes while Ananth Moghan secured 96,836 votes, winning by 22,250 votes. BJP's M Yuvaraja finished second with 38,185 votes.
