Farmer found murdered on farmland in Krishnagiri

Krishnagiri: A 50-year-old farmer cum real estate businessman was found murdered on his agricultural land near Pochampalli here on Friday morning.The Nagarasampatti police identified the deceased as Sathyaseelan, a resident of Jambukuttapatti village. According to a police officer, Sathyaseelan left his house on Thursday night and failed to return. Worried, his wife and relatives launched a search for him throughout the night, he said. On Friday morning, the family members found his body lying in a pool of blood on his farmland with injuries to his head that was apparently inflicted by a sharp weapon, the officer said. When alerted, the Nagarasampatti police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Krishnagiri Govt Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. Krishnagiri superintendent of police P Thangadurai inspected the crime scene, from where forensic experts have collected evidence. A police sniffer dog was also pressed into service. While the exact motive remains unknown, police are investigating whether the murder is linked to his real estate dealings or any personal enmity. The Nagarasampatti police have registered a case and are trying to zero in on the culprit(s).
