Coimbatore man murders neighbour over garbage dumping dispute, held

Coimbatore: A 47-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for murdering his neighbour, a woman, over dumping garbage in the common area of the house.The Karunya Nagar police identified the arrested person as E Noble Watson Thangadurai, a native of Kanyakumari district. Unmarried and unemployed, he has been residing in a rental house on Sappanimadai Road at Karunya Nagar for the past seven years. A police officer said there was frequent verbal spat between Thangadurai and V Jessy Vincent, 72, who was residing in a rental house in the same compound, over dumping garbage in the common area of the house. Around 8am on Wednesday, the officer said, the duo as usual entered into a verbal spat, during which Jessy reportedly verbally abused Thangadurai's mother. "In a fit of anger, Thangadurai took a sickle from his house and attacked her on her head. The elderly woman sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot." ; When alerted, the Karunya Nagar police registered a case and arrested Thangadurai, who was subsequently produced before court and remanded in judicial custody at night. The body was, meanwhile, sent to govt hospital for postmortem. Jessy is survived by two sons and a daughter, who is settled in US. Her elder son is a church reverend and her younger son is settled in Coimbatore city.
