Coimbatore police seize 70 abandoned motorcycles; investigation under way to trace owners

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore city police recovered 70 abandoned motorcycles from the Saibaba Colony, Thudiyalur and Kavundampalayam on Monday.The action followed multiple complaints from residents, who raised concerns about vehicles being left parked for an extended period near the Saibaba Colony water tank, the Thudiyalur market area and around Kavundampalayam.Preliminary checks confirmed that all the seized vehicles are registered with the Coimbatore regional transport office. Personnel from the respective police stations inspected the locations and towed away the abandoned two-wheelers.Police have launched a detailed investigation to verify ownership using the vehicle registration numbers. Investigators are examining whether the motorcycles were stolen and later dumped in these localities or whether there are other reasons they were left unclaimed.
