Cash-for-jobs scam: DVAC registers FIR against former TN minister KN Nehru

CHENNAI: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has registered a first information report (FIR) in connection with a cash-for-jobs complaint against former municipal administration and water supply minister KN Nehru.The development came to light before the Madras high court on Friday, where the first division bench comprising Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G Arul Murugan is hearing a contempt case against DVAC for not registering a case. AIADMK Rajya Sabha member IS Inbadurai had filed the contempt petition against DVAC officials for failing to comply with the court’s direction to register the FIR. The court is also hearing a review petition filed by Nehru in his personal capacity. Advocate general Vijay Narayan informed the bench that the DVAC had registered the FIR after obtaining his legal opinion. He stated that the high court directed the DVAC on Feb 20, 2026 to register an FIR without delay.
