Warring slams AAP 'theatrics’ of parading MLAs before President

Chandigarh: Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Tuesday criticised the Aam Aadmi Party govt for parading its MLAs in front of President Droupadi Murmu.Warring pointed out that no law in the country allowed for the recall of elected legislators and termed the AAP's act as "theatrics".In an interaction with the mediapersons, the Ludhiana MP said the move to parade the MLAs in Delhi was characteristic of the AAP's drama on which it had survived all these years."What is the purpose of presenting your MLAs before the President?" he asked, pointing out that nobody is saying the AAP has lost its majority in Punjab.The Congress leader noted that sometimes the chief ministers parade their MLAs before the President to prove their majority if it was challenged, but there was no such case in Punjab right now.He said the stand taken by the AAP to urge the President to recall the defected Rajya Sabha MPs did not hold any legal or constitutional base. Once a legislator is elected, whether to the state assembly, Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha, he or she cannot be recalled, but can only be disqualified, Warring emphasised.The AAP also knows it, but still wants to enact a drama in the national capital to divert the public attention and grab some headlines, he added.Replying to a question regarding the AAP's claim of betrayal by the MPs, Warring retorted, "Didn't they betray the people of Punjab and their own volunteers by nominating two outsiders and businessmen and industrialists to the Rajya Sabha?"He said the AAP was reaping only what it had sown. "It is too late for the AAP to regret," the Congress leader remarked.He alleged that the AAP struck a deal with big industrialists who helped the party according to its principle of "saam, daam, dand, bhed".
