SAD promises ₹500cr boost for Naya Gaon
Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal Sunday promised Rs 500 crore for the integrated development of Naya Gaon, asserting that the area would be made part of New Chandigarh “in all aspects” if the party forms the govt in Punjab.
Addressing a public meeting during municipal poll campaigning, Badal said SAD would ensure holistic development, including legalisation of unauthorised colonies and upgradation of civic infrastructure.
“We will regularise colonies and develop a modern road network, sewerage system and proper street lighting. Naya Gaon will be upgraded as part of New Chandigarh,” he said.
Badal alleged that both the previous Congress regime and the current AAP govt had neglected the area and failed to provide basic amenities. He assured residents he would return a year after forming the govt to review progress on their demands.
The SAD chief also praised local leader Ravinder Singh Khera and urged residents to back his leadership. Party leaders Gurdhyan Singh and SGPC member Ajmer Singh Khera were present.
