Chandigarh: Continuing its protest against rising fuel prices, the Chandigarh Congress Sunday held a demonstration in Sector 32 against the Centre. Women workers and youth activists participated in it, raising slogans over inflation.
Addressing the gathering, Chandigarh Congress president HS Lucky said soaring prices have burdened the poor, middle class, labourers, employees, youth and homemakers. He cited reports highlighting rising costs of food items, milk, LPG, transport and daily essentials disrupting household budgets.
He added that repeated hikes in petrol and diesel have pushed up prices across commodities. “The situation has become so severe that people now hesitate to go to markets, with prices rising almost daily,” he said.
Pradesh Congress secretary Victor Sidhu said the party continues to stand with common people, alleging that economic decisions are increasing public burden.
Block president Balwinder Kaur said homemakers are among the worst hit, with managing household expenses becoming difficult. She demanded immediate steps to curb inflation and rollback hikes in fuel and essential commodities.
