‘Poor road’ claims lives of 4 in Sirmaur
Shimla: Four people, including three women, were killed and one man was critically injured in a car accident on the Piyulani-Bhalona road in the Sangrah sub-division of Sirmaur district on Monday morning.The vehicle reportedly veered off the road, leading to the accident. The deceased include Amra Devi (52), a teacher at Bhalona School, her daughter Aradhya (14), Priyanka (14) of Uncha Tikker village, and Sajjan Singh (62) of Kajwa. Amra Devi's son, Ajit Kumar (33), sustained serious injuries and has been referred to a medical college in Nahan for treatment. Amra Devi was a resident of Gattadhar panchayat in Sangrah. Locals blamed the poor condition of the road for the accident, reiterating long-pending demands for its repair. SDM Sunil Kayath reached the spot soon after the incident. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu conveyed his condolences to the bereaved familie and sought a report on the incident from the district administration.
