Chandigarh: Chief engineer of the Chandigarh municipal corporation Sanjay Arora Saturday inspected the sewage treatment plant (STP) at Maloya to review its operational efficiency, treatment processes and environmental compliance. Senior officers and engineers accompanied him.
Arora inspected key units, including inlet works, aeration tanks, clarifiers, sludge handling systems, laboratories and treated water discharge arrangements. He expressed satisfaction with the functioning of the ISO-certified plant and appreciated staff for maintaining treated effluent quality within prescribed norms.
He later reviewed progress of the tertiary treated water project under AMRUT 2.0, including construction of an underground reservoir and allied infrastructure. Stressing timely completion, he directed officials to expedite the work, noting that the project will promote water recycling, reduce dependence on potable water and strengthen the city’s sustainable water management efforts.
