Chandigarh: Calling the case against Punjab minister Sanjeev Arora "false" and his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in a money-laundering case "an attack on Punjab's trust, development and future", AAP national convener Arvind
Kejriwal and party's Punjab affairs in-charge Manish Sisodia on Sunday praised Arora for "refusing to join the
BJP despite pressure".
Kejriwal, in a post on X, said, "A person's true character is revealed during difficult times. Sanjeev Arora chose to go to jail rather than join BJP. Salute to him."
Backing Arora strongly, Sisodia described him as "an honest, hardworking and visionary leader" who had worked aggressively to bring industrial investment to Punjab after becoming a minister.
"Ask any entrepreneur in Punjab and you will hardly find anyone who does not praise Sanjeev Arora's industrial policy and his way of working," Sisodia said.
He added that Arora had also focused on improving urban infrastructure, including street lighting, management of tangled electricity wires and implementation of schemes related to underground power lines in villages and fields.
Targeting the BJP over the arrest, Sisodia alleged that action against Arora was politically motivated. "When BJP arrests such a hardworking and result-oriented leader in false cases, it no longer remains a matter of harassing one leader. It becomes a betrayal of Punjab's trust, development and future," he said in another post on X.
Sisodia further asserted that Punjabis "know how to teach a lesson" to those who betray them.
