Shimla: Himachal Pradesh governor Kavinder Gupta on Tuesday interacted with 24 cadets of the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun, at Lok Bhawan here. He exhorted them to uphold national values, cultural heritage and a spirit of excellence in their journey ahead.
Emphasising that discipline is the foundation of all achievements, the governor said that character must precede rank, as integrity was a virtue that must be practised rather than displayed. He reminded the cadets that they were not just soldiers-in-training but future leaders of the nation, urging them to place the country above self.
Highlighting the importance of excellence, Gupta stated that mediocrity had no place in uniform and encouraged the cadets to strive for the highest standards in all pursuits. He also advised them to embrace challenges, noting that adversity is the best teacher and plays a crucial role in personal growth.
Regarding leadership, the governor said that true leaders lead by example and view leadership as an act of service rather than authority. He further urged the cadets to stay intellectually sharp and adaptable to meet the demands of modern warfare.
The cadets, hailing from different states, introduced themselves and shared their aspirations to join the National Defence Academy and the Indian Navy.
