Chandigarh: Rubbishing the claims of chief minister
Bhagwant Mann that the Congress will not win more than nine seats in the upcoming 2027 Assembly elections, Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said the chief minister was either living in a fools' paradise or deliberately misleading people of Punjab.
"Congress will further improve its 2017 performance in 2027 as people of Punjab have now realised that they committed a big mistake in 2022," he said.
Warring asserted, "Take it under my oath that the AAP will not touch the double figures this time as people of Punjab have had enough of their theatrics." He said the AAP leaders were used to such drama of "giving it in writing" about the number of seats they will win.
He reminded the chief minister that before the 2024 general elections, he made similar claims of winning all the 13 parliamentary constituencies in Punjab and it could just win three. Besides, he added, from winning 92 assembly segments in 2022, the party slid down to 32 in the 2024 parliamentary elections. "And the slide has been continuing since then and nobody knows where it will stop," he added.
The PCC president said there was a groundswell of anger and resentment against the AAP govt, particularly due to the rise in the gangster culture and spread of drugs. He said corruption had crossed all limits and the common man was feeling cheated, looted and robbed.
"If Mann Sahab still believes that the AAP will be winning the elections, one can only say that he is actually living in a fools' paradise," he said.
The PCC president reiterated and reaffirmed that Congress was headed for a landslide victory in Punjab in 2027. "Let me guarantee under oath that the Congress will improve its 2017 performance this year, while the AAP will be desperately fighting for its survival," he asserted, adding, it is a matter of a few months more to prove who is going to be right and who is going to be wrong.
