Times News NetworkPanchkula: As part of a special enforcement drive to improve road discipline, Pinjore traffic police challaned 70 drivers for various violations, including illegal parking, driving without number plates, and overloading.The drive, led by Surajpur traffic police station in-charge Abhishek, focused on vehicles parked haphazardly along busy stretches, causing obstruction to traffic flow. Officials also targeted motorists flouting basic traffic norms, particularly those operating vehicles without registration plates.During the drive, six autorickshaw drivers were challaned for illegal parking, carrying passengers beyond the permitted limit, and other violations. Of these, three autos were impounded on the spot for serious breaches.ACP Traffic Surendra Singh said the campaign aimed at addressing growing concerns over road congestion caused by abandoned or improperly parked vehicles. “Special attention is being given to vehicles without number plates and those left unattended on roads, as they disrupt traffic movement,” he said.DCP crime and traffic Amrinder Singh warned that strict action would continue against violators. He emphasised that adherence to traffic rules is essential for ensuring road safety and smooth movement of vehicles.Police officials said such drives will be conducted regularly to curb violations and maintain order on city roads, urging the public to cooperate with enforcement efforts.
