3 Hry tourists who vandalised HRTC bus held
Kullu: The police arrested three Haryana tourists who pelted stones at a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) Volvo bus and allegedly manhandled the driver and conductor following a dispute over seating at the Kullu bus stand late on Sunday night.
All the tourists are from Kaithal in Haryana and came to visit Kullu-Manali, said a police officer.
The incident occurred around 10.45 pm on Sunday night when the youths demanded seats in the bus, which was on its way from Manali to Chandigarh, said Khoob Ram, Kullu bus stand in-charge.
"When the HRTC staff told the youths that the bus was headed to Chandigarh not Kaithal, they started beating up the driver and the conductor and also pelted stones at the bus, smashing its front and side window glasses. Fortunately, no passenger was injured. The bus was severely damaged that we had to send another bus to Chandigarh and shift the passengers, causing a delay of almost an hour," said Khoob Ram.
"Along with taking legal action against the accused, the police should also recover the damages from the youths to teach them a lesson. Also, the police should beef up security at the bus stand, as last night when the youths went on a rampage not a single cop was around," said Khoob Ram.
