2,000 notices issued over stilt area coverage violations in Gurugram, HC informed
Chandigarh: The Haryana govt on Monday informed the Punjab and Haryana high court that the authorities in Gurugram had issued nearly 2,000 notices to property owners for illegally covering stilt areas in violation of the municipal norms, and around 500 restoration orders had also been passed directing the violators to undo unauthorised constructions. The submission was made before a division bench comprising Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sanjiv Berry during the resumed hearing of a case in which the court had earlier restrained the Haryana govt from implementing the controversial ‘stilt plus four floor policy' for residential plots in Gurugram under a notification dated July 2, 2024.During the hearing, petitioners' counsels concluded their arguments, and the bench indicated that the case reached final adjudication. The court clarified that the entire policy would remain subject to the outcome of the ongoing public interest litigation.Meanwhile, the bench declined to extend the stay on the policy to Panchkula while hearing a separate application seeking similar restrictions. The petitioner argued that Panchkula was also facing issues due to the policy, similar to Gurugram. However, the court refused to intervene at this stage, noting that the impact of the policy across Haryana is already under detailed scrutiny of the court. The matter is scheduled for the next hearing on May 12.MSID:: 130801929 413 |
