Bhopal: The city was caught in the throes of heatwave-like conditions on Tuesday as it witnessed the hottest May day after nearly two years. Elsewhere in the state, the highest day temperature touched 47 degrees Celsius in Naogaon. The day temperature in Bhopal was 44.2.
Before this day, the temperature higher than Tuesday in Bhopal was recorded at 45.4 degrees celsius on May 26, 2024. Dry hot winds from Rajasthan threw life out of gear.
Precaution remains the only word of relief for denizens, as there was no possibility of respite from the sizzling heat. The temperatures were set to further go up from prevailing levels. A warning of heat waves was issued for Bhopal and the majority of places in the state.
The day temperature in Bhopal on Tuesday was recorded at 44.2 degrees celsius, three degrees more than the normal mark, while the night temperature in the city was 30.0 degrees celsius, three degrees more than the normal mark.
In the past 24 hours till 8.30 am on Tuesday, heat wave was witnessed in Rajgarh, Vidisha, Khandwa, Ratlam, Khajuraho, Naogaon, Chitrakoot (Satna), Amarkantak (Anuppur), Sheopur, Datia districts, while warm night was in Umaria dist.
In the forecast for Bhopal on Wednesday the meteorological dept stated there would be mainly clear sky. Day and night temperature will be respectively 44 degrees celsius and 30 degrees celsius, while average wind speed will be twelve kilometers per hour.
In the forecast for the state the meteorological dept issued a warning of severe heat wave for Vidisha, Datia, Bhind, Satna, Panna, Damoh, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh and Niwari.
A warning of heat wave was issued for Ratlam Bhopal, Sehore, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Dhar, Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Agar, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Morena, Sheopur, Singrauli, Sidhi, Rewa, Mauganj, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Mandla and Maihar while warning of heat wave and warm night was issued for Raisen, Rajgarh, Umaria and Katni.
A dry weather would prevail in the state. In the weather outlook the meteorological dept stated no large change for next five days.
