Int’l medevac: Critical patient airlifted from Nepal lands at Bhopal airport
Bhopal: An international medical‑evacuation flight from Pokhara, Nepal, landed at Raja Bhoj Airport, Bhopal, on Tuesday evening, carrying a critically ill resident who required urgent treatment, airport officials said. The patient, who was travelling with family, was brought into India on a special flight operated by Nepal’s Shree Airlines.Director of the airport Ramjee Awasthi said the aircraft was given priority handling to ensure the patient received immediate medical attention. “Immigration and customs officers, along with airline and ground‑handling teams, were mobilised immediately and provided expedited clearance for the patient and the accompanying medical team,” he said.Raja Bhoj Airport, which functions 24x7 and is designated as an integrated check post and customs airport, activated its international handling facilities to facilitate the emergency operation.Streamlined procedures enabled all required formalities to be completed without delay, allowing the patient to be handed over to a waiting medical team for onward evacuation and treatment. “All relevant agencies worked in close coordination to expedite the process and prioritise the patient’s welfare,” Awasthi added.Following completion of formalities, the Shree Airlines aircraft departed Raja Bhoj Airport for Nepal at around 6 pm, officials said.
