Pilibhit: A 22-year-old woman sustained multiple fractures after being pushed down a staircase by her husband and parents-in-law for failing to provide a car as additional dowry. Following a written complaint, police booked the three family members on Sunday night.Neha Hussain married Haroon Ali in July 2022. According to Neha, her father, Irfan Hussain, provided substantial dowry at the time of marriage and later gave the husband an additional ₹3 lakh. Despite this, she was subjected to physical torture after a few months of marriage.The situation escalated on May 9, when Neha was allegedly abused and beaten before being thrown down the stairs. Despite her severe injuries, her husband refused to take her to hospital. Upon hearing of the assault, her father rushed to the home and moved her to the Autonomous State Medical College hospital in Pilibhit. X-ray reports confirmed three fractures in her right leg and an ankle fracture in her left.SHO Siddhant Sharma stated that the three accused have been booked under BNS sections 85 (cruelty by husband or relatives), 117(2) (causing grievous hurt), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), and 352 (intentional insult), along with relevant sections of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
