Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: An artisan employed with a jewellery shop in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has been accused of fleeing with gold worth Rs15 lakh.
Sub-inspector Ashok Ingole from Kranti Chowk police station said the accused hails from Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal and was working at the shop for around two years.
“The shop owner’s brother had purchased gold worth Rs15 lakh and handed it over to the accused for making different products. However, under the pretext of going out for dinner, the accused left the shop on the night of June 4 and did not return,” he said.
The jewellery shop owner and his brother tried to contact the artisan on his mobile phone, but it was found switched off. “We are carrying out a technical investigation and police teams will be deployed accordingly,” Ingole said.
Kranti Chowk police on Saturday night registered an offence under the BNS Section 316 (4) (criminal breach of trust specifically committed by a clerk or servant) against the accused artisan.
