Prayagraj: In a bid to expand religious tourism in the state, a Tourist Facilitation Center (TFC) is being constructed at Kaushambi, a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site in
Uttar Pradesh.
District Tourism Officer (Kaushambi) Kirtiman Srivastava, said, “The tourism department has submitted a proposal to the govt for the construction of a TFC at the Kanshiram Guest House in Osa. This proposal was formulated under the district action plan with the specific objective of boosting tourism within the district.”
The project is slated to be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.76 crore. The Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation Limited has been designated as the executing agency for the project. The executing agency has already issued tenders for the work, and construction is set to commence once a firm has been selected.
The facility will feature a passenger hall capable of accommodating 80–90 tourists, separate restroom blocks for men and women, a water tank for drinking water, an RO water purification unit, benches for seating, and other amenities. Additionally, arrangements will be made to provide dustbins for waste disposal.
Officials said Kaushambi district, a key site within the Buddhist pilgrimage circuit, serves as a center of faith for Buddhist devotees, attracting hundreds of thousands of followers and tourists annually.
