BJP protests opposition role in Parliament
Prayagraj: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) (Yamunapar unit) on Sunday registered a strong protest against the opposition camps including Congress and Samajwadi Party for failing to play a constructive role regarding the Women’s Reservation Bill—officially known as the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’—in the Lok Sabha. The BJP Yamunapar Mahila Morcha (Women’s Wing) took out a ‘Mahila Jan Akrosh Rally’ and marched to the residence of the Congress MP from the Allahabad Lok Sabha constituency, Ujjwal Raman Singh where they staged a sit-in protest and demonstration.Holding placards in their hands, the women raised slogans vociferously and accused the opposition of harboring an anti-women mindset. The protesters asserted that stifling the voices raised in Parliament for the dignity and rights of women amounts to an insult to the nation’s ‘Nari Shakti’ (women power). BJP Mahila Morcha district vice president Shobha Dwivedi said, “Politicizing the rights of half the country’s population reflects the opposition’s anti-women mentality. Withholding support for the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ constitutes a betrayal of women’s dignity. The BJP will continue to fight for women’s rights—from the streets to the Parliament.”
